Press Through Anyways

As I was considering what I would write about this week my mind drew a blank. Life hit in such an unexpected way over the last couple of weeks, I just felt drained. I felt drained physically and mentally, but as I was sitting here, I heard the Holy Spirt say press through anyways. He reminded of the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:25-34 and Luke 8:43-48. Let me start by saying I can’t begin to imagine how tired she must have been. After 12 years so fighting so hard and believing to be healed, but year after year she wasn’t healed physically. I can only assume she must have been drained physically, emotionally and mentally; however when she heard of Jesus the bible said that she pressed through. What does it mean to press? The definition of press is to exert continuous physical force, to move in a specified direction by pushing and (my favorite of all) is to apply pressure to something. That’s exactly what the woman with the issue of blood did. She applied pressure and pressed her way to touch Jesus’ garment.

Now my situation is nowhere like the lady with the issue of blood, but I do understand the principle in which sometimes you will have to press through the hurt, press through the pain, press through the betrayal, press through the tiredness and reach for the Jesus. Reach for His grace that is sufficient enough to carry you through whatever you are going through. Reach for His mercies that are new every morning. I want to enough you not to give up when life throws a curve ball. Keeping going and keep pressing through. Stay consistent on that goal. Stay consistent on taking step after step. Don’t bow to the plans, attacks and schemes that the devil sets before you. Remember, the bible tells us,” No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgement thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord” Isaiah 54:17.

The only way we lose is if we give. If we stop trying. I encourage you to press through anyways. The very obstacle that you are facing is temporary. It will change. How it changes is up to you. I’m reminded of this old school song from the 90’s called Trouble Don’t Last Always. This song is a reminder that what you are going through will eventually change. What better way to be the light than to allow people to see that even in the midst of challenges and obstacles that you continue to press through anyways. It doesn’t have to be drastic. It just needs to be one step at a time. We become the light that we were created to be by pressing through even when everything in us wants to give up. Let’s be like the woman with the issue of blood that even after 12 years, she still pressed through! You got this! We got this! Let your light shine in the face of adversity. Although, you didn’t see it coming El Roi (the God who sees) saw it coming and He’s got you!
